My client and I have been working together for 2 months to get her ready for her trip to Greece. We started working out twice a week and then for the 2nd month we increased it to 3 times per week. In 2 months she has lost 30.2 lbs, 4.7% body fat, 14.5 inches and her BMI has gone down by 5. OUTSTANDING RESULTS!!!! Dedication and proper nutrition are what made this happen. I can’t wait to share the before and after photo.

Check out these photos that are a year apart.  What a huge improvement.  Phil is my husband but also one of our clients.  He has been following Fizzique programs for a few years now and he just keeps improving.  His goal is to gain weight because he was very skinny growing up.  It was difficult for Phil to put on weight but not any more.  Under the supervision of Fizzique he has changed his eating habits and workouts and clearly the results are working in his favour.  What a huge accomplishment in 1 year.  As you can see by these photos progress takes time.  There is no quick fix that will have permanent results.  It is a process so accept it and enjoy every moment of it without stressing out.

As a personal trainer and fitness professional it’s so important to measure your client’s progress. Each month I take my clients measurements to make sure they’re staying on track. It’s a great way for the client to stay accountable to their goals and for us to chat about how we’re going to keep the momentum going.

This is a male client of mine who is working extremely hard and the results are clearly paying off. In just 2 months he has lost 20 lbs, 6.1% body fat, 8.5 inches and 2.6 BMI.

This is proof that hiring a certified personal trainer pays off. We get you the results and work with you every step of the way. One on one attention and the right fitness and nutrition plan to ensure you get the results you are striving for. It’s not an easy process and it does take work but the results are worth it…..and so are you!

Motivation.  Confidence.  Self-worth. Transformation.  Happiness.  Better mood.  All of the things you feel or achieve when you workout.

You’re willing to spend your money on gimmicks and products that may help you drop the weight quickly but it doesn’t teach you how to keep it off for good.  Stop taking advice from someone that doesn’t have a college or university degree or any formal type of education surrounding health and wellness.  You only have one body and as far as we know, one life.  Your health is not something to experiment with.  Just like you wouldn’t ask a friend to perform a dental surgery on you, why would you turn to a non-certified, uneducated individual for health and wellness advice?  Even a massage.  Would you trust your friend to give you a massage or would you see the assistance of an RMT?  The art of personal training is methodical and scientific based.  It’s a health science for a reason.  As someone that has graduated from an elite fitness and health program I am educated on the anatomy of the human body (I performed a bell ringer just like an RMT or Chiropractor would have), biomechanics, workout periodization, special populations (aging, prenatal, injuries, diseases, etc.), various fitness assessment testing, fitness appraisals and how to read an ECG test just to name a few.

I am not just a personal trainer who you see for 60 minutes and then don’t hear from me again until our next session.  I am your coach, cheerleader, friend, therapist and psychologist.  I will never put you down and will never make you perform an exercise that is unattainable or could make you susceptible to injuries.  I always have an open line of communication to check-in.  I like to see how you’re feeling, chat about your meal planning and what type of exercise you are doing when I am not with you.  I create monthly plans to keep you on track.  There are so many options to keep you moving forward.  No two people’s workout plans will ever be the same.  That’s the beauty of having a personal trainer in your corner.  Trainers are there for YOU.  We aren’t there to get our own workout in (that should be part of our own work/life balance), we are there to help you succeed every way possible.  I will not allow you to make excuses (because those never got anyone results) and will always make sure I continuously motivate and cheer you on to success.  I am not here to make you feel bad or devalue your worth.  Everyone, both men and women, are entitled to feel their best. You didn’t get to where you are by working out 5 times a week and eating fruits and vegetables all day.  I know that’s quite blunt but it’s the truth and the faster you can realize what you need to do in order to change (with my help) the faster you will see results.  Somewhere along the line you lost your drive to be something better, to lead a healthy lifestyle.  You lost who YOU were.  Let’s find that old you together and re-identify your self-worth.  This is a lifestyle change that will forever change your entire outlook on life.  It’s the most wonderful feeling when you notice results and feel accomplishments for small things in your daily life that you couldn’t do before.  Yo-Yo dieting or trying every new fitness trend DOES NOT WORK!  Let’s realize that now so you can start fresh and start making permanent lifestyle changes.

You may think that personal training is a luxury but let me put it to you this way.  Your life  is the most important luxury you can own.  EVERYONE (including personal trainers) needs a Personal Trainer.  I’ve personally had one and it was the greatest investment I made.  That’s not to say that I can’t put a stellar program together and see results.  I love having the guidance of a knowledgable professional that is going to motivate me for that hour.  I like having the appointment in my calendar because it makes me feel in control of my daily life instead of fitting it in when I can and perhaps forgetting about it all day until it’s far too late to get a workout in.  Whether you’re looking to lose weight, gain weight, train for a race, train for a specific sport or are stuck with your routine, have plateaued and need a challenge, EVERYONE needs a personal trainer.  Re-allocate that budget you would’ve spent on gimmicks and trendy workouts to hiring Fizzique Fitness.  We will not only provide you with a fitness program that will transform your body but we will teach you what you need to do on a daily basis to ensure you achieve your goals.  At Fizzique Fitness, we change lives and make you stronger everyday.  You can invest in your health now, or you can pay for it later.  Either way, it’s going to cost you.

I have known Angela for quite some time.  She started as a friend but when she decided to make a commitment to her fitness routine she contacted me to assist.  I was very excited to help her but also a little nervous because when you’re already friends with someone there is added pressure.  Will my programs be successful?  Will she enjoy the workouts?  A lot of questions crossed my mind before starting our sessions but once we did I was reassured that this was a right fit.
Angela really wanted to focus on kickboxing for her training.  She had done some of this kind of training at her gym but wanted to add more to her workout routine.  Since I run MMA classes in our town she sought me out to have her training sessions centred around this style of training.  MMA or kickboxing really proves to be a sure way to lose weight because of the many components involved with the sport.  You get a crazy amount of toning because you’re actually hitting an object and it’s a great cardio workout.
Here is her story.

My weight loss journey started in February 2014. My youngest daughter was just over 2 years old and I was still carrying some baby weight. I weighed 156lbs and each week the number would climb. I felt tired and I didn’t feel good about myself. I decided to join a local gym. After going to the gym on-and-off for a year I lost a total of 8lbs. My problem was that after 5 months I stopped making progress and I had not yet achieved my goal.

In mid-April 2015 I weighed 148lbs and was still struggling to lose the last 10 pounds. I contacted Alexis Talledes of Fizzique. We discussed my goals, my diet and my routine. I committed to 10 weeks of personal training with Alexis. Each week she brought something different to my workout; strength training, MMA and TRX. Within that 10 weeks I reached my goal weight of 137lbs and noticed a significant change in my physique. Alexis kept me focused on the task, and designed training that I actually enjoyed. Alexis’ enthusiasm and knowledge, as well as her ability to motivate allowed me to achieve goals that I was unable to on my own.

We completed 1 set of 10 sessions and are onto our next set of 10.  I ensured to take her measurements at this point and before and after photos and here is were she is today.

Our next focus is to strengthen her core so we have been utilizing the TRX system quite a bit in our sessions.  This piece of equipment is amazing because it’s so portable and really enhances every single exercise ensuring your body gets a killer workout.  We still incorporate the kickboxing combinations as it really drives her heart rate up and will keep her working towards her goals.

This is one client that walks the walks and talks the talk when it comes to her fitness goals.  Nothing will get in her way of her success.  This is someone that all women struggling with their goals should aspire to be like.

Isabel joined the Mission:Slimpossible challenge and was eager to get started.  She was committed to attending 3 nights a week as often as she could and emailed me whenever she had a question or wanted to know what more she could do to see results.  I loved receiving her emails and finding out that her kids were getting in on the at home workouts and holding her accountable as well. People like Isabel are why I love what I do.  Doesn’t make excuses and keeps reminding herself that it takes time to see results.  She knows quick fixes don’t work and true weight loss takes time.  Congratulations Isabel on your success with the program and I look forward to seeing you in the next session.  Isabel lost 5 inches, 4.6 lbs and 3.5% body fat.
Here’s Isabel’s story.
I am a mother of 3 and i have struggled with my weight for the last 6 years. My youngest are only a year and a half apart. I had no time in between to lose any weight from my second pregnancy and after my third I had what felt like 3x the extra weight that I had before even having any kids. Everything I have tried has only been temporary.  The most effective way I was loosing any weight was going to the gym, but that didn’t last long. There was no motivation to go. Sometimes i was hearing myself say I can always go tomorrow and then it turned into a week and a week into a month. With such a busy life I gave up going to the gym and the pounds came back. Taking the kids from soccer to karate to swimming I had no time for myself so I would sometimes skip meals or eat late or eat on the go. I got to the point where I had to make a choice; make the change for the better for myself or keep going downhill and feel miserable.
I saw all the great reviews online for Alexis’ bootcamp and decided to give it a try. Why not? What did I have to loose? A couple of pounds is better than nothing. I had to start somewhere. I did the slimpossible challenge with the meal plan and loved it!! I lost pounds, lost inches and felt great about myself. I felt motivated all the time. Every class is different. My favourite was the kickboxing. I made myself accountable to go and met a great group of ladies. The meal plan is simple and easy to do.
I also have Alexis’ workout DVD which I use 3x a week. The 10 minute workouts are awesome and help me to keep the weight off.
This has been a great experience and I can’t wait to start another session.

At Fizzique we don’t just train women.  We’ve had our fair share of successful men too.  I would like to highlight my husband Phil’s success.  He struggled with gaining weight his entire life and suffered from low self-esteem because of it.  His clothes hung off of him and he was tall and lanky.  Definitely not easy when you’re going through high school and you’re body is going through the awkward stages.  Here is a before and after photo.

He contributed an article to our winter 2015 issue of Fizzique Magazine (free digital download).  To read the full article and get a free workout click here.

Do you want to get back to your pre-baby body? Our classes can make this happen and then some. Karyn is a mom of 2 and was very successful on our Mission:Slimpossible program. She actually ended up WINNING the entire challenge!! Here are her before and after photos along with a more recent photo of her trying on a pair of shorts she wore pre baby #2. As you can see they are TOO BIG!!! She weighs the same as she did pre-baby but has significantly lost inches. This is a great visual for those that are obsessed with the number on the scale because by the way these shorts fit, it doesn’t matter what it says on the scale. She lost INCHES!!! And that is a positive motivator. She is more toned and has more muscle then she did before and that is why her clothes are fitting differently.

Recent photo where Karyn tried on her pre-pregnancy shorts and they were too big.

CONGRATULATIONS Karyn on your success with your health and wellness journey and for winning Mission:Slimpossible.

Below is a testimonial from her about her experience with our program. If you’re stuck in a rut or keep yo-yo dieting/exercising and want to see results, then you need to join our program. Inconsistency will not enhance your body. A regimented schedule will. Get in the mindset that you deserve this same success but also remind yourself that for permanent results, it takes time. There is no quick fix. Karyn has been working hard and the payoff is outstanding. Round up your support group and get fit together.

After having my second baby I wanted to get back in shape right away as I had been very active before my pregnancy. In mid June 2014, at 6 weeks postpartum I joined Fizzique’s boot camp and was doing the Weight Watchers program which I had previously done and had great success with. I found though that I wasn’t losing weight and inches as fast as I had hoped for.
In January 2015, Fizzique offered Mission Slimpossible which included boot camp 2-3 times a week and a meal plan provided by Melissa Seguin – Holistic Nutrition and Registered Massage Therapy.

Boot Camp
Part of my success was in the January session I attended boot camp 3 times a week every week. I made sure to put it in my calendar as an appointment. If I was unable to make a class I made sure to attend a make-up class. We also started to use free weights in our workouts which I felt made a big difference in sculpting my body. I made sure I pushed myself each class and eventually I was able to increase the weights from 8lbs to 10lbs. Throughout the weeks I also made some great friends and we had fun during each workout talking and laughing.

Meal Plan
The meal plan included healthy whole foods and super foods which were known to aid in weight loss. Going into the program I was scared that the food would taste horrible and that I would be hungry. It actually ended up being the complete opposite. The food was actually good and I was never hungry. My husband and my baby also loved the food. The only tough part was finding the time to make all the meals. What I found helped me succeed with the meal plan was preparing as much as I could the night before. I also made large batches of some meals to use for leftovers or freeze for days when I was in a rush.
Before the program I was constantly tired and felt I had no energy. I had gone to my doctor and had blood work done, but everything was okay according to my doctor. During Mission Slimpossible, I started to feel better. I was no longer tired and I had way more energy.

Even though the program is over I am continuing with the meal plan and I am working out at home until the next session of boot camp starts up. I have incorporated healthy eating and exercise into my daily routine and I am very happy with the results!

It seems that 30 day challenges are all the rage lately especially on Pinterest.  I constantly see people sharing the 30 day squat, plank or burpee challenge.  If you aren’t familiar with 30 day challenges it’s meant to improve your strength over 30 days by repeating the same exercise and gradually increasing each day so by the end you’re up to a set amount of reps or time.

The body definitely learns by doing the same motion over and over again and you’ll certainly improve but the reason why training this way can do more harm then good is because your body needs a day of rest; the muscles need a day of rest.  When you don’t give your muscles adequate rest time you run the risk of getting injured because the muscle doesn’t have time to repair itself and prepare to be used again to the same capacity.  You can certainly workout 5 days a week as long as you’re alternating the workouts.  For example, if you have workout #1 and workout #2 you would repeat workout #1 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and workout #2 (which utilizes different muscles) on Tuesday and Thursday.  That way you’re giving your body the rest it needs to perform those same exercises, lifting the same weights (or using your body weight) at your highest capacity.  You always want to perform your best and with adequate rest, you will.  You will see greater improvements training this way rather then doing the same exercise for 30 days.

Challenges should be geared towards transformation which includes eating properly.  Whether your goal is to put on weight or lose weight, nutrition is a key component to your success.  Couple that with the correct mixture of exercises and you’re on your way to the land of results!  For some reason society has it in their mind that there’s a quick fix….that they’ll see drastic results in a short amount of time and when people don’t see the results they want they get discouraged and stop activity and eating properly all together.  Or, they make the small change and participate in a challenge (like a 30 day challenge) and think they don’t have to do anything after that.  It takes planning and dedication to get the results you want so completing a workout here and there and eating healthy when you think about it won’t create a healthy habit.

In saying that I would like to leave you with 2 beginner workout plans that you can alternate throughout the week to see results.  You can do these at home or in a gym.  My hope is to make people understand that injuries are hard to recover from so be smart about what you’re doing to your body and who’s training you.  Educate yourself first before starting any workout routine; especially one you find online.  Most of the workouts shared on Pinterest or Facebook aren’t formulated and are just a bunch of exercises put together. So educate, educate, educate, educate, educate, educate, educate, educate, educate yourself before doing any type of exercise.
