Over the past 30 years portions sizes have steadily increased. In fact current portions are 2 to 5 times larger than they used to be. Plate diameters have subtly increased to accommodate more food, so it’s no coincidence that North Americans have become larger along with plate sizes. Reducing your plate size by 2 inches can result in a sharp decrease in caloric intake.

Also, make sure more you divide your plate into quarters. 1 quarter for protein, a half for vegetables and a quarter for carbs.
